Sylvia P Tech Pack

Recently, I had the pleasure of submitting a tech pack to Sylvia P’s teenwear production team, Every Turn. It’s always exciting to submit a tech pack that brings a design concept one step closer to reality.

For this leotard, I considered feedback from Sylvia P customer who expressed frustration with having to use safety pins on leotards during her daughter’s competitions to attach identifiers for the judges. She found safety pins easily rip through the fabric due to the movement and enthusiasm of competition performances, and I can understand why this would be frustrating with these gorgeous outfits.

With this feedback in mind, I designed a basic yet modest piece featuring a colour combination inspired by the iconic Gen Z singer Billie Eilish, whose music specifically complements dance. I incorporated additional material panels into the back, allowing safety pins to be attached without piercing the main fabric.

While this is a draft concept to address this issue, there are other ideas that could further expand on this feedback, creating a more personal and playful design while staying true to the brand aesthetic.
